Game Review: Fallout New Vegas (2010)

The new Fallout New Vegas video game is out and it has a lot to live up to. It's predecessor, Fallout 3, represented over 300 million dollars in sell sales within its first two months of existence. Maker Bathesda genuinely has a way of beginning games off. In Fallout 3, you start the game being born by your Father. You pick your name, what you look like, etc and then your mom just dies. Then you wake up and your 1-year-old, then 10, then 16 then 19 and then boom, you're out of the Vault and into the wasteland finding for your father. New Vegas is not so dramatic.

When you start a new game in New Vegas, you're in your undies talking to a doctor in a town called Goodsprings. A cowboy robot named Victor found you half-buried in the death-filled desert and brought you there. While your chat with the doc, you pick your name, make your face and of course, pick your main stats. (I recommend 10 intelligence and at least 7 strength. Just lower perception by 2.) Upon answering weird psychological questions and finding at ink blots, the good doctor releases you to the face world.

As it turns out, you have been shot in the head and should not have lived at all. The man who shot you, Benny, is at large and in New Vegas where he owns a casino called The Tops. This is your main focus for about half of the game until you finally find him.

Enough about the story, let's talk about game mechanics and gameplay. Well, Let's just say this, I genuinely hope they patch this game a few times so it will stop glitching and freezing upon loading screens. Even after I installed the game to my hard drive, the game still freezes on me. Not only does the game stop but the entire Xbox freezes up and even hitting the Guide Button does nothing. I know this isn't my Xbox's fault because it is brand new and it doesn't do this with any other games. It's not as bad as I might make it out, but it is annoying sufficient to make me turn the game off and go do something else every time it decides to freeze up.

Product recap Rating: Overall, so far at least, I give the game a 6 out of 10. The story is genuinely good and the new features they've added genuinely show all the hard work they've put into it.

It would have a higher rating but the random glitches are that bad. I mean no one likes having to get up and manually resetting your Xbox just because a game freezes.
